Boneham Aged Care Services in Millicent has been rated as a “three star” facility under the new Federal Government ranking system.
The new star rating for aged care homes across Australia on the My Aged Care website was a recommendation of the Aged Care Royal Commission and are considered a way to measure providers against each other.
Boneham chief executive Michael Filsell said the star rating was calculated on a number of factors including resident and family interviews, compliance with standards, quality benchmarks and staffing care minutes.
He said star ratings will be adjusted every quarter.
“Providers such as Boneham have been given advanced access to their star rating so that we can inform residents and representatives ahead of the information being uploaded to My Aged Care website,” Mr Filsell said.
“Boneham achieved a three star rating which puts us in the same category of 59% of the providers in the industry indicating we are a compliant service.
“31% of providers achieved four or five star ratings and 10% received either a one or two star rating.
“We were particularly heartened to note that we achieved four stars from resident and representative interviews and feedback.
“That indicates that our residents and their families are overwhelmingly happy with their experience.
“While we rated only three stars in the other categories, some of that is due to the timing of the initial reporting, some is due to the way we have previously reported quality data and some of it is based on staffing from many weeks ago.
“We hope and believe that we will move into the four star category as reporting continues into the future.”
