In the modern era when four-wheel-drive utility vehicles are common place in the diesel world, Volkswagen has taken its top of the range Amarok Aventura and fitted a 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine to provide a quieter and more refined experience for all of your driving duties and taking adventures to the open road.

Boasting 222kW of power and 452Nm of torque, the petrol powerplant is mated to Volkswagen’s 10-speed automatic transmission and renowned selectable 4MOTION driveline.

While the petrol Amarok weighs in with a power increase of 38kW over it’s diesel counterpart, it sits a bit lower on the torque scale compared to the turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, but this does not mean it is a slouch on the road!

There is plenty of pulling power right from the get-go, with the Amarok power delivery smoothly applied to get the utility up and running.

The same glorious exterior styling is featured across the Amarok Aventura petrol variant, with the redesigned vehicle setting the new benchmark across the utility market with premium levels of design.

From the stunning front IQ.LIGHT LED headlights, wide front grill, powerful side profile with squared-off guard design and distinct Amarok-emblazoned tailgate, the all-new Amarok is unmistakable on the road.

The Clear White paintwork accentuates the body lines of the all-new Amarok to show off its full form, but if you’re looking for a splash of colour bright beige, bright blue, dark grey, deep red, light grey, mid blue and midnight black metallics are also available at an additional charge.

The Volkswagen Amarok Aventura also features a stylish sports ‘sail-plane’ with electric roller shutter to ensure any precious cargo stored within the utility’s tub remains locked up safe and sound.

Stepping up inside the cab of the Amarok Aventura matches the exterior, with a stylish dash-board and door profile graced with Savona leather trim finished of perfectly with ebony black headliner trim offering the ultimate luxury experience.

Not only does the interior look the part, but it is also packed with Volkswagen’s full technology suite, featuring a large digital cluster to display all the vital driving details as well as an on-board tyre pressure monitoring system.

On top of this, the Amarok Aventura features a large 12-inch infotainment and navigation system, controlling vehicle cameras, audio channels and functions along with vehicle system functions and the climate control zones.

A host of 12V and USB power sockets are also featured inside the cabin, while heated front seats can also be controlled by the main touch screen display.

Safety is also paramount with all new vehicles and Volkswagen has ensured the Amarok features the best of the best.

Dynamic light assistance is featured through the manufacturer’s IQ.LIGHT matrix headlights, a host of airbags including knee airbags for drive and passenger, autonomous emergency braking, front monitoring assistance, electronic stability control with electromagnetic brake booster and electric park brake are just some of the core features included as standard.

An area view 360-degree camera system also makes reversing and parking a breeze, ensuring you can whip the utility in and out of tight spaces without any dramas.

Firing the petrol powered Amarok into life and taking to Mount Gambier’s streets was a pleasant experience and really highlights the refinement of the entire package.

The ride quality is top-notch and smooth, the power delivery and quietness of the petrol powered turbocharged engine is delivered extremely well with pulling power right through the rev range and it drives and handles so well you’d be forgiven for thinking you were steering an SUV around town.

Although the petrol-powered Amarok Aventura may be top-class on the road for daily drive duties with the added ability of carrying a hefty load in the tub, there is no denying that by adding a set of all-terrain tyres the utility can switch between on and off-road duties to take on even the toughest terrain with ease.

The all-new Volkswagen Amarok truly redefines what a utility should be and takes the expectations ‘to the max’.

Pricing starts at $86,039 for the Amarok Aventura in its TSI452 petrol form, while a host of accessories are available including self-lowering tailgate assist, drawer systems and a range of canopies just to mention a few.
