Apollo eager to halt ‘unbeatable’ Inter

Apollo v International

Apollo taking on rival International is always an entertaining affair, however last time it was an incredibly one sided Barry Maney Group Limestone Coast Men’s Premier League result with Apollo going down 7-0 at Casadio Park.

Round six will see them face off once again, however this time Apollo will hope to put up more of a fight at home.

International has looked far and away the best side in the opening five rounds, their wins have ranged from 3-0 to 21-0.

Their defence is the best in the league by a long way having yet to concede a single goal.

While the black and blue’s defence is doing an incredible job, so has their attack.

International has kicked a staggering 53 goals from the opening five games, an average of more than 10 goals a game.

They look unbeatable having dealt with every side with ease, now Apollo get the chance to prove themselves a genuine contender.

Its second v first which means that Apollo should perform better than last time, if they can truly push International and make them work for the win then they could go far this year.

International should not take Apollo lightly though, they did claim a hard-fought win over Centrals and have looked dangerous, so an upset is not off the cards.

If they can truly test their defence and perhaps ruin their clean sheet record then Apollo will gain some confidence for the rest of the season.

It’s going to be an exciting contest when Apollo hosts a flying International.

Blue Lake v Millicent

Blue Lake has looked good this season, putting up some good performances and always fighting no matter the scoreline.

Last week saw the side stage a comeback that Centrals was able to hold off against as they left it too late.

This week they face second bottom of the table Millicent who has had a rough month with a 16-0 loss against International as well as losses to Blue Lake and Apollo.

The side sits fifth on the table with one point and a goal difference of negative 28.

They will need to pull of an incredible upset to beat Blue Lake.

The round four match between the two sides finished 0-5 with Blue Lake taking all three points.

The Blue Lake attack has been a dangerous one this season as Shar Nay Than, Gay Ni Hsar, and Meereh Htoo all sit within the most prolific goal scorers in the league.

Their defence has looked leaky at points and if Millicent is to win it will have to do its best to exploit this weakness.

With a top four spot the goal for Blue Lake this season the Rangers will need to win comfortably to give them a good amount of breathing space between themselves and fifth.

For Millicent, top four is looking incredibly unlikely with a six point gap already and a disastrous goal difference, therefore a win is incredibly important to keep finals chances alive.

Gambier Centrals v Naracoorte

Gambier Centrals are the reigning premiers going back to back in 2021 and 2022 but they currently sit third having played every side.

Centrals are sure to be disappointed with their early season performances but will know they can turn it around.

Naracoorte is coming off a thrashing of the highest order, losing 21-0 to International.

If Centrals do not get the job done it may be over for their season, while Naracoorte will surely be attempting to bounce back.

Centrals need to win to be a serious chance for the three-peat, anything less than three points would be a massive disappointment for the Lions.

Naracoorte sits bottom but if they can challenge Centrals and make them work hard for the win, it will have been a good performance.

The Lions have the opportunity to jump back up to second with a win and should grab the chance with both hands.

Naracoorte will hope they can scrape a draw or a win and jump from their current place at the bottom of the ladder.
