Apollo youngsters rock fresh socks for charity

Last weekend some of the Apollo Football Club Junior teams styled a new pair of socks for their matches on Sunday morning.

Over the past 10 years the AFL has made a big effort to raise awareness around the disease MND.

Each year they hold a fundraiser called Big Freeze at the G where they get celebrities to go down a waterslide into a big ice bath before the game between the Pies and the Dees.

The main source of the fundraiser is the very popular big freeze beanies.

For Apollo their idea was to have big freeze socks to be worn by the junior players in their games.

The fundraiser was run by Tania Kuchel and Felice Prosperi-Porta.

This fundraiser is important to them with Felice losing his younger brother to the disease and Tania losing a family friend to it as well.

Their main goal of the fundraiser was to raise awareness of the diseases.

The Apollo Boys Under 12’s and Under 12 D’s wore the socks on the weekend against Blue Lake with the Under 16 Girls also putting on the socks for their game.

Also at Apollo on the weekend in support of the fundraiser was League President Bruno Vadori.
