Assessment panel seeks gymnasium clarification

Acommercial gymnasium in Mount Gambier must meet certain planning requirements in order to function.

The Limestone Coast Southern Regional Assessment Panel has requested clarification and confirmation as to how the gym facility is to be operated including confirmation of the maximum number of people to be using the Mount Gambier facility at any one time.

Furthermore, the panel wants to know the maximum number of people to be using each space including the two studio rooms, the main gymnasium area and the mezzanine floor.

A further planning requirement is a schedule identifying when each area is available for use and the times and duration of gym classes.

The gymnasium is located in a former commercial building in Scott Court.

Among other planning matters resolved at the panel’s March 21 meeting was the conditional approval for a short-term tourist accommodation facility in upmarket Jardine Street.

The area is considered to be one of the ‘dress circle’ locations in Mount Gambier.

The Jardine Street unit has a maximum capacity of six.
