Association netball returns to court in force

The Mount Gambier Netball Association is back to the courts this weekend and after a testing time, players are keen to get back into the swing of things.

No less than 51 teams have been awaiting the first umpires whistle tomorrow night to start a great year ahead. The Set and Go players are looking forward to learning new skills and will open proceedings tomorrow night before the remaining junior and senior grades come out on Saturday.

To celebrate Anzac Day a ceremony will be being conducted at 2.40pm. RSL representatives Dieter Merchel and Kelly Copeland will be in attendance alongside Cameron Horsburgh playing the Bugle.

The memory of Marg Dennert will be carried on through the presentation of the RSL medallion at the completion of the match between 2019 grand finalist teams Intruders and Hobitz.

Both sides have had some great games in previous years, with this game going to continue the tradition. Other A grade matches will see Vicis v Zodiacs and Saints v Amazons. All teams come into this year with new lineups, hopefully producing some great matchups throughout the season.

The reintroduction of a 17 and Under competition has been welcomed by four teams. This season will see the introduction of a SE Voice Player of the Round award for either a junior or senior player.

A Grade kicks off from 2.45pm, while the first teams to hit the court on Saturday morning are the 15 and 13 and Under B’s from 9.30am.
