The Port MacDonnell Community Complex will next month host author Maya Linnell (pictured) for the launch of her new book Kookaburra Cottage.

Ms Linnell is no stranger to regional locations as she currently resides in rural Victoria with her array of animals.

Maya is a former South East journalist but now spends much of her time writing about the life she lives and loves.

Set in South Australia’s Limestone Coast region, Kookaburra Cottage focusses on horticulturalist April Lacey.

She is determined to lead her family’s winery into the future, and dreams of opening a bed and breakfast at Lacewing Estate.

It seems the crumbling historic building and her father’s reluctance to join the food tourism revolution are just the beginning of her uphill battle.

Enter English winemaker, Connor Jamison, who has travelled to South Australia’s iconic wine region to learn from the experts and carve a name for himself in the industry.

However, it quickly becomes clear that no matter how many miles Connor puts between himself and the accident that flipped his world, the past keeps nipping at his heels.

United by cooking classes, music and an unexpected involvement in the Penwarra Country Show, April and Connor seem like the perfect match.

With old flames, new challenges and careers conspiring to keep them apart, can this pair forge their own path for a future together?

Community members are invited to join Ms Linnell at the inclusive and accessible Port MacDonnell Community Complex for this free launch event which includes a complimentary light lunch, and a live Q&A hosted by Port MacDonnell local and journalist Gretel Sneath.

It will be held on July 9 and bookings are essential.

Please contact the staff at Port MacDonnell Community Complex on (08) 8738 3000 to secure your spot and advise of any dietary or accessibility requirements.
