The rumble of hot rods filled Mount Gambier on the weekend, as the Lake City Rodders hosted their annual Valentine’s Day run.

It was the 31st staging of the event, which attracted 86 entries from throughout Australia.

Club secretary Rod Storan said the weekend was jam-packed with events, including social gatherings at the Pine Country Caravan Park and the Hastings Cunningham Reserve clubrooms, as well as lunch at the West Gambier clubrooms.

Attendees also took part in a challenging observation run around Mount Gambier, visited a local garage collection of various vehicles, memorabilia and collectables and enjoyed a quiz evening.

One of the weekend’s highlights was the annual swap meet, which saw more than 1000 people flock to West Gambier oval.

“The swap meet site numbers were a little more than usual which I think is partly due to the fact that word is spreading about the swap meet, but also some of the major swap meets have been cancelled, particularly in Victoria where flooding has caused an issue,” Mr Storan said.

“We were very lucky with the weather, it turned out really well.”
