The staff at Mount Gambier’s Barry Maney Group have spread Christmas cheer through the Limestone Coast region by delivering more than 800 Foodbank SA hampers to those in need this festive season.
The automotive group has supplied two staff members for six afternoons, taking time out of their busy workday to assist the Foodbank SA volunteers.
Barry Maney Group has been assisting Foodbank SA since its inception, with Barry Maney OAM being one of the key drivers in establishing Foodbank in Mount Gambier.
Foodbank SA has been assembling and delivering Christmas hampers for 16 years in the Limestone Coast with the BMG sales team assisting in delivering hampers for the last couple of years.
Barry Maney Group Used Car manager John Richter said staff were proud to be able to give back to their local community.
“The Barry Maney Group’s philosophy has always been about giving back to the community and Lynne and her team at Foodbank do an amazing job helping those in the community that are less fortunate,” he said.
“We get great satisfaction out of being able to contribute to this great cause by helping in this way.”
Regional Foodbank Mount Gambier Branch manager Lynne Neshoda said BMG had been very supportive of the initiative.
“The Christmas hampers are delivered to agencies, charities and schools who then give to the vulnerable in our community as part of their Christmas cheer,” she said.
“The hamper gives less fortunate people the opportunity to have some Christmas treats as well as staple food items they might otherwise have to go without.”
