Baseball ‘battle royale’

Baseball ‘battle royale’

The stage is set for an absolute highlight in round three of Mount Gambier and District Baseball League, with the match of the round to be played on Saturday afternoon on the main diamond at 4pm.

Tigers will take on the undefeated Centrals side.

Tigers – having put 29 runs across the plate in the last two weeks – should put them in a good position heading into the clash, but Centrals have also put a whopping 37 across the plate.

Centrals certainly have shown they want redemption from last year’s defeat in the big dance and will look to continue its early season dominance.

Key matches up on the hill will be seen this weekend and it is expected Dylan Chuck and coach Karl Ransom will take control and lead from the front.

A game of big hitters and a game of baseball smarts will be on show and it is certainly a game to get excited about.

Prediction Tigers by 1.

South will look for its second win of the season when the side takes on a young Federals lineup.

South will need to find the bat on ball early if there is a chance to defeat Federals, with the young Federals army sniffing a win just around the corner.

Matt Nicholls will have the job on the hill for Federals and with Estafauli in form with the bat this is a danger game for South.

South will look for more Jesse Balshaw-like batting efforts with the young South star in career-best form and making a statement to the rest of the league.

South will need a solid pitching effort from coach Ryan Placcuci, but Federals have seen him once and will look forward to a rematch.

This game will be a close contest unlike last time, with Federals a real chance to score its first points of the season.
