Bellum back in business

An historic quirk has been revealed on the eve of the reopening of the Bellum Hotel at Mount Schank.

As part of the licensing process, the official names of the hotel and its location have been stated in official government documents.

It is known as the Halfway House Hotel at Bellum Bellum.

The name is derived from its location midway between Mount Gambier and Port MacDonnell.

The Riddoch Highway waterhole has not traded all year. The incoming managers are Meg Black and Bob Williss and they will live on the premises.

Their application for the licence to the Liquor and Gaming Commissioner will be considered at hearing in Adelaide on September 15.
