Big Bash heats up

Round three of the Dycer Constructions Big Bash T20 competition will take place this Thursday night with Penola taking on Mil Lel at McCorquindale Park, North Sportsmans lining up against the South Gambier side at Marist Park and East and West Gambier eager for a hit-out at Allan Scott Park.

Penola Vs Mil Lel

With two games under the belt of each side with no losses between them, next Thursday’s clash between Penola and Mil Lel will surely be an incredible contest.

Both teams will be eager to stay undefeated however only one can.

Both sides have looked dangerous so far in their two and will seek to continue their form.

Penola will be confident it can get the result at home as the side has performed well at McCorquindale Park so far this season.

Penola’s bowling attack will offer a challenge to Mil Lel, in particular Michael Waters who took 4/15 in Penola’s last T20 clash against East Gambier.

Mil Lel will be confident its batsmen are up to the challenge having passed 100 runs in both games, which a lot of teams have struggled to do so far this season.

It could come down to one player’s performance who gets over the line, Mil Lel having been performing consistent team cricket and to continue this form will make them hard to beat.

Penola has also had many different players stand up so far this season and its explosive batting and destructive bowling will make the side a fierce opponent.

The game is sure to be an enthralling battle between bat and ball and an incredibly entertaining game.

North SPORTSMANS
Vs South Gambier

Two teams without a win between them will face off on Thursday night for round 3 of the Dycer Construction Big Bash.

North Sportsmans will host South Gambier at Marist Park in what is to tipped be a fierce battle.

South will be looking for a great improvement with the bat after last round’s horror loss to West Gambier after going from 0/35 to all out for 52 chasing 136.

North will also need to dig deep with the bat after failing to reach 100 last round, getting bowled out for 83.

Both teams have been bowling reasonably well so far, North was able to restrict Mil Lel to 113 last round but failed to deliver with the bat.

The game will come down to which team has someone stand up with the bat.

Robert Drenthen and Daniel Loupos are some candidates for the Demons and while South will feel they have the edge over North after beating them in Round 4 of the Barber Shield, the T20 contest is a different beast and can provide unexpected results.

With only two games to go after this, both teams will require a win if they want any chance to play in the grand final at the start of next year.

East Gambier
Vs West Gambier

Allan Scott Park will host an intriguing game on Thursday night.

The Dycer Construction Big Bash Round 3 clash between West Gambier and East Gambier will certainly be a close one and will provide an entertaining watch.

Both East and West have one win and a loss to their names from the first two rounds and a loss here will make qualifying for the grand final a difficult task.

East will have to be wary of West as the side will be full of confidence coming off a dominant win over South in which it bowled them all out for 52. East will feel it has the batsmen to take on the West Gambier attack.

The key batsmen will be Blackwell and Dion Stratford for East and West respectively, both players having scored a half century this season will be looking to continue their form.

East will be cautious when facing Trent Badmen who has been exceptional with the ball so far this season taking eight wickets from the first two rounds. East is yet to be bowled out and will feel it is up to the challenge.

The winner will feel confident to go all the way this season, but the loser will require a tough climb to get to the grand final.

The stage is set for a tense game that will no doubt entertain.
