Blue Tree sparks conversation

Over a dozen members of the Wattle Range Suicide Prevention Network spent their Sunday painting a ‘Blue Tree’.

Wattle Range Council gave permission to paint the fallen tree stump by the old tennis courts at The Domain in Millicent.

Banner Mitre 10 Millicent provided sponsorship by helping with the cost of paint.

The mission of the nationwide Blue Tree Project is to spark difficult conversations and encourage people to speak up when battling mental health concerns.

By spreading the paint and spreading the message that “It’s OK to not be OK” we can help break down the stigma around mental health.

There are currently 929 blue trees painted nationally.

Such trees can also be seen on Conmurra Station midway between Millicent and Kingston and at the Lake Bonney windfarm.
