The wait is almost over for race fans at Borderline Speedway, with the rescheduled running of the South Australian Sprintcar Title and round 2 of the TIBILLS wingless sprint series set for December 10.
After mother nature put a stop on the planned opening night, Borderline Speedway president Cary Jennings will be praying for this one to be put into the racing books.
“We still have got a high number of nominations for the Sprintcars despite other venues having meetings on the same night, but they still will put on a good show for the avid race fan,” Jennings said.
“In good news for Borderline Speedway local driver Steven Lines will be back in the Horrell Motorsport Q83 along with Brock Hallet in the Queensland number 5 which is really good to have both these cars back in South Australia and they always support our racing calendar along with Luke Dillion, Ryan Jones, and lady racer Lisa Walker and ex-Australian champion Dave Murcott who will all be vying for a podium finish.
“Leading the local charges, apart from Lines, will be Glen Sutherland, Scott Enderl and Daniel Pestka who all like the bullring of Borderline Speedway and these guys will put on a good show for the crowd.
“It will be good to get up and running for the state title of Sprintcars which has not been run at Borderline Speedway for at least 20 years plus and it will kick start the 2022/23 racing season.
“We will make this happen and put on a good show for the fans.”
Also on the racing program will be round 2 of the TIBILLS wingless sprint series.
The gassers can also put on some great action-packed racing a big field has nominated.
Leading the locals will be Mitchell Broome, Kirby Hillyer and Rory Button who all have the home track advantage over fellow competitors in Joel Chadwick and William Caruso.
For Broome, Hillyer, Chadwick and Caruso they have already had some seat time and will be itching to get on the track and put in some fast laps, but Button has also done a lot of laps around the bullring and will adapt quickly.
“It will be good to have both classes on the track for the opening night and see these guys out there putting on some good racing,” Jennings said.
“We are looking forward to a great opening night on Saturday, December 10.”
Gates will open at 4pm, hot laps will start at 5pm and a full race event will get under way at 6pm.
