Bowlers brave elements

Once again rather inclement weather arrived at the Millicent Bowls Club this week, but a good number of bowlers registered to play the 20 ends of 2-4-2 bowls.

It was great to see seven ladies take part with four of the seven women in playing key roles in winning teams.

Unfortunately, the game had to be cut short due to heavy rain with only 10 ends being played.

The winning pair for this week with a score of 27+7 was the team of Mary Campbell and Peter Scanlon.

Runners up for the day were David Nuske and Ros Varcoe with a score of 27+3.

Other winning teams for the day were, Tim Grovenor and Kym Stewart 27+2, Orr Grovenor and John Buhlmann 26+9, Jim Campbell and Neil Whelan 25+3 and Jan Buhlmann and Derrick Lindh 21+1.

It was announced before going out to play the important Pennant trial game, the Scudds/Earl shield played between Mount Gambier RSL and Millicent will take place on Sunday, September 19 in Millicent.
