Bowlers head bayside for Mixed Fours event

It was perfect weather for the Port MacDonnell Mixed Fours Christmas Ham, Cake and Pudding Day on Sunday, sponsored by SE Funeral Services/Trident Tyre Centre and Malseed Real Estate.

14 teams played four games of nine ends. Two games were played either side of lunch in an even completion, there were no four game winners and the final result was decided by points. The winning team was a combined outfit from Port MacDonnell and Mount Gambier.

Skipper Bill Richards, Ron Cox, Beryl Messenger and Barb Milstead collected 114 points and finished one point ahead of runners-up skipper Jennifer Bowering, Gary Bowering, Fiona Pearson and Craig Pearson from the Mount Gambier RSL.

Third on 109 was Steve Farrell (sk), Pat Lynch, Helen Lynch and Kerry Pedlar combination of Mount Gambier and Robe. Fourth on 108 was Danny Gaut (sk), Elaine Pruis, Lyn Vanderley and Joe Pruis from Port MacDonnell, followed by Port MacDonnell’s Tim Wrightson (sk), Jennie Tilley, Robyn Burley and Ben Tilley on 107.

MID WEEK PENNANTS

Port MacDonnell Blue 46-6 defeated Mount Gambier Blue 44-2 as Michael Glynn, Chris Negline, Barrie Schmidt and Carol Schmidt (sk) won 24-20. Lorraine Mackereth, Danny Gaut, Lance Fisher and Terry Seiler(sk) lost 22-24.

Port MacDonnell Red 43-0 lost to Millicent Red 49-8 at home.

Elaine Pruis, Keith Dowdell, Heather Richards and Bill Richards (sk) lost 26-30 and Des Horrigan, Jan Dowdell, Kevin Henderson and Robert Hutchesson (sk) lost 17-19.

LADIES FRIDAY PENNANTS

Division1 Port MacDonnell 41-2 lost to Mount Gambier RSL Red 42-6 at home.

Elaine Pruis, Jennie Tilley, Carol Schmidt and Heather Richards(sk) won 22-16, Sharon Perryman, Lorraine Mackereth, Robyn Burley and Judith Grosvenor(sk) lost 19-26.

Divison 2 Port MacDonnell 30-0 lost to Robe 64-8 at Robe. Lyn Jones, Shirley Taylor, Lyn Vanderley and Marilyn Sutton(sk) lost 15-26 and Suzanne Connell, Nallia Lucas, Heather Fox and Cheryl Doddridge(sk) lost 15-38.

SATURDAY OPEN PENNANTS

Division 1 Port MacDonnell 73-4 was defeated by Naracoorte 82-8 at home.

Paul Weir, Robert Hutchesson, Wayne Dowdell and Tim Wrightson(sk) won 31-21,

Barrie Schmidt, Keith Dowdell, Heather Richards and Bill Richards (sk) won 30-27 and Greg Fisher, Judith Grosvenor, Kevin Kenderson and Chris Richards(sk) lost 12-34.

Division 3 Port MacDonnell 84-12 defeated Penola 47-0 at home. Jimmy Williams, Bruce Bain, Donald Forbes and Kel Butler (sk) won 24-23, Michael Glynn, Lance Fisher, Jennie Tilley and Terry Seiler(sk) won 34-13 and Chris Negline, Victor Perryman, Kevin Osman and Danny Gaut (sk) won 26-11.

Division 4 Port MacDonnell 62-1 lost to Mount Gambier Blue 86-11 at Mount Gambier. Terry Stone, Darryl Sims, Marilyn Sutton and Bill McGregor (sk) lost 15-8, Ben Tilley, Elaine Hutchesson, Rod Sutton and Justin Brown (sk) drew 22-all

Suzanne Connell, Kevin Norman, Graham Hutchesson and Cheryl Doddridge(sk) lost 25-26.
