Burdon hits new heights

What a year 2023 has turned out to be for Millicent professional motorbike stunt rider Josh Burdon as his international career has reached a whole new level in China.

For the past 13 years, he has plied his trade mostly in Australia under the brand he established called Factory FMX.

Despite the occasional fall and broken bone, his career has progressed and he has recently clinched a two-year deal to live and perform in China.

“I flew back to Beijing in March to meet up with my great Chinese friend Tim,” he said.

“Although my trip was brief for only a week, we networked and had many meetings with organisers and promoters to see what could develop and be possible for the 2023 season and my riding career over in China.”

“Once I arrived home in Millicent I went straight back to work and very soon later in July the email and life changing opportunity was presented to me by the organisation we had been in contact with earlier in March.

“The performance contract ran for 37 pages and after a few days of negotiations, I signed the contract to move.

“I’m currently living over in Zhuhai, China which is very close to Macau and also close to Hong Kong.

“I flew over on July 15 and packed my life into two 30kg Motocross bags.

“I have settled in well and the company I’m working for is called Chime Long Ocean Kingdom.”

According to Mr Burdon, his performance contract is for two years and he is riding a freestyle Motocross motorbike in an entertainment centre.

He is part of a 90 minute theatrical show on every night.

“The company has provided return flights, my own apartment, three meals a day, a brand-new bike for myself and fulltime wages,” Mr Burdon said.

“I have been selected as one of 10 FMX riders from all over the world, some riders are from Poland, Colombia, Brazil and South Africa.

“I am now currently the only Australian FMX rider here.

“I am so very happy to be flying the flag for my hometown and putting Millicent on the map as well as representing Australia.

“Big thanks to the continued support from Brad Tilley accounting and financial planning.

“His support has been amazing over the years and has helped the business run smoothly.

“I have just received my permanent residency of China and the visa approved to stay here and work.”
