The 2024 Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival will this year introduce ‘Festival Friday’ to encourage festival goers to enjoy shopping, cafes and cellar doors in Penola’s main street on Friday May 17 after dark.

On offer will be food, wine and live music in the Penola Town Square and along the main street, along with the announcement of the Catherine Martin Literary Award winners at 5.30pm and the chance to vote for the ‘Streetscape Decorate’ award for the best main street window decoration.

Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival coordinator Peta Baverstock said the impetus behind Festival Friday was to encourage visitors and locals to enjoy the main street’s outlets as a kickstart before heading off to other festival performances.

“On offer will be spit roast pig from Roosters Rotisserie, lamb chops at Westmere Wines cellar door in Local Images and a variety of options from Red Shack Café,” Ms Baverstock said.

“Cellar Doors and retail outlets will offer extended openings, and live music will add to the atmosphere, we encourage everyone to join the Friday Festival Feels!”
