In a highly anticipated Round 9 contest of the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League, Casterton Sandford dominated Kongorong with a final score of 99 to 5.

Casterton Sandford asserted its dominance right from the beginning, scoring 19 points in the first quarter while preventing Kongorong from impacting the scoreboard.

This trend continued throughout the match as the Cats consistently outperformed the opposition, leading by 38 points at the main break and 53 points at the end of the third quarter.

Casterton Sandford’s impressive display of accuracy in front of goal, with 15.9 – a major factor in the victory.

The best players for Casterton Sandford were Libby Altorfer, Gabrielle Sullivan, Alena Tranter, Zhane Crawford, Brianna Spratling and Chloe Foster, who all played crucial roles in securing the huge victory.

For Kongorong, Sarah Lucas, Janita Galloway, Hannah Kuhl-Miller, Tilah Buckingham, Alisha Angelino and Evie Sealey were recognised as the standout players for the side in what was a tough day.

Tranter dominated the scoreboard for Casterton Sandford, scoring four goals, while Chloe Foster and Libby Altorfer each contributed three goals to the team’s impressive score.

The win helped Casterton Sandford climb to the top of the ladder and secure the minor premiership, while Kongorong now sits in sixth place.

Overall, it was a dominant performance from Casterton Sandford, which showcased its skills and dominance in the league ahead of finals.

South Gambier V Kybybolite

South Gambier travelled to Penola to take on Kybybolite and the Demons suffered a big loss, with Kybybolite claiming a comfortable win with a final score of 44 to 12.

Kybybolite’s home ground advantage helped them dominate the game from the outset and not let the opposition gain a foothold in the match.

They led at the end of each quarter, with the final quarter seeing them seal a comprehensive victory.

Kybybolite’s players were on top of their game and their efforts were reflected in the list of best players.

Dellie Brown, Jessica Cox, Anna Davies, Erin Ewer, Sarah Ottoson-Crossling and Kate Edmonds all had an outstanding game.

Lily Clifford-Finch, Ella Boston, and Emily Baldwin also contributed to the team’s effort.

On the other hand, South Gambier struggled to get into the game and was never in a position to challenge Kybybolite.

Sophie Wight, Lana Shepherd, Chloe Lines, Tonique Burford and Kaitlyn Horrigan tried their best to get their team back into the match but they were unable to do so.

Kybybolite’s victory has taken the side to the fifth position on the ladder, while South Gambier remains in seventh place.

Overall, it was an entertaining game of football that showcased the skills and abilities of the players on both sides.

Millicent V Mundulla Tigers

The Limestone Coast Women’s Football League Round 9 game between Millicent and Mundulla Tigers was played on Sunday at Casterton’s Island Park.

The game was dominated by the Mundulla Tigers, which won by a massive margin of 163 points.

Millicent was unable to make an impact on the scoreboard during the game, while the Tigers scored 24 goals and 19 behinds.

The Tigers took an early lead in the first quarter, scoring 52 points to Millicent’s 0.

The second quarter saw Mundulla Tigers extend its lead to 73 while also dominating the third term to move the margin to 126 points.

In the fourth quarter the Tigers registered 37 points, bringing the total score to 163.

Kelsie Wilkinson, Stephanie Gilbert, Kalli Brown, Lauren Potter and Cassie Levison were the best players for Millicent, while Natasha Horne, Casey McElroy, Erin Horsnell, Sammy Hunt, Kaylene Rowett and Matilda Harris were the best for Mundulla.

The stand out for the game was Rowett, who was unstoppable in front of goal kicking an impressive 10 majors.

Also having a large impact on the scoreboard was Horsnell who booted six goals of her own.

Mundulla has secured second on the ladder, while Millicent is in eighth place ahead of finals.

Penola V Kalangadoo

Penola recorded a comprehensive win over Kalangadoo to secure its spot in the finals.

Kalangadoo was unable to impact the scoreboard at all with Penolas’ defence proving too strong.

Penola led at every break, up by 53 points at half time, before putting the foot down to finish the game 127 to 0.

Angela Broad caused lots of trouble for Kalangadoo, scoring six goals for the game while Jasmine Ryan also caused some headaches to kick three herself.

Named in the best players for Penola were Heidi Berkin, Caroline McGrath, Jasmine Ryan, Angela Broad and Shandeen Balshaw.

The standout players in what was a tough day for Kalagadoo were Ebony Wurst, Georgia Gentile, Kellie Wallace, Alisha Stephens and Stephanie Bingham.

With the loss Kalangdoo will remain bottom at the conclusion of the home and away season, while Penola sits in fourth.
