Aunique winter cattle show event will be held in a first for Penola, planned to fill a gap in the cattle show calendar.
The event will be held on June 8 at McCorquindale Park at the showgrounds.
It will provide an opportunity for all breeds of cattle to make to make their first appearance of the season.
The event has already proved popular, as within 10 minutes of entries closing, the capacity pool of 90 entries was reached from cattle breeders from the Limestone Coast and afar.
Not only will the event attract cattle breeders and handlers it will also be a magnificent spectacle for the public.
The event has been organised by SE Collective, with well-known cattle enthusiast Mason Galpin taking on the role as president.
“Not only is the show about cattle, it is also about fostering youth involvement and promoting family values,” he said.
“We are so grateful that we have had such great support from the community and beyond with sponsorship to make the event possible.”
The Penola Show Society has kindly allowed the group to use the Spanlift pavilion which will adapt to all weather conditions.
A well respected interstate cattle judge has been selected to judge the winter show down.
Breakfast of bacon and egg rolls along with coffee and tea, a barbecue lunch and refreshments will be available on the day when judging will start at 10am.
