Cavaliers Hockey Club celebrates special anniversary season

Cavaliers Hockey Club Inc is celebrating 30 years of history as part of its end of season presentation night this Saturday at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

The club was formed in 1992 following a split from Tigers Hockey Club, with the inaugural team entering the Division 2 men’s competition as well as an Under 15 boy’s team.

By 1995 two Division 3 men’s teams, plus an Under 16 boy’s team were added and the team finished the year with premiership wins by the Division 3 White side and Under 14 boys.

By the early 2000’s the Cavaliers lineup included women’s and girl’s teams, with continued success in multiple divisions, most notably a Division 1 men’s premiership in 2014.

In more recent years, Cavaliers have enjoyed collaborative partnerships with other clubs, fielding a joint Division 1 men’s team with Portland in 2019 called Cavport before COVID-19 border restrictions prohibited further collaboration.

Currently, the Cavaliers Hockey Club Inc has teams in both Division 2 and 3 men and women, plus Under 12 boys and a joint Under 15 boys team with Redbacks Hockey Club.

The 30th anniversary celebration will be a look back at the evolution of the club, through multiple uniform changes and multiple, as well as a celebration of the successes of the 2022 season.

Last weekend the Division 3 women and the Division 2 men both faced off against Tigers for premiership glory.

The presentations and anniversary celebration are open to all past and present players, and those wishing to attend should contact the club via cavaliershockeyclubinc@hotmail.com or via the Cavaliers Hockey Club Inc Facebook page to RSVP.
