Cemetery project support

Robe District Council has secured funding for its ‘Robe Historic Cemetery – Restoration Works’ project.

The Department of Environment and Water will contribute $20,000 towards the restoration works as part of the new Heritage Conservation Grants Program.

The council is looking forward to delivering this project to the community over the 2023/24 financial year.

The cemetery is the final resting place for a number of prominent district pioneers including the Reverend William Vansittart.

His estate enabled the development of the Mount Gambier sports ground which bears his name.
