Centrals win close encounter

Blue Lake v Gambier Centrals

In an enthralling encounter in the Barry Maney Premier League senior men’s Round 10 competition, fourth hosted third with a lot on the line as Blue Lake faced off against Gambier Centrals.

The match proved to be a closely contested battle with Centrals fighting hard to get over the line.

The game kicked off with both teams showing attacking intent, creating several scoring opportunities.

Neither side was able to capitalise on any opportunities, with the first half ending in a deadlock at nil-all.

As the second half commenced, the intensity of the match increased and it didn’t take long for the deadlock to be broken.

Centrals’ Sam Shoemark continued his brilliant goal-scoring form finding the net in the 46th minute to give his side the lead.

Blue Lake fought back valiantly, and Eh Hsa Poe netted his first goal of the day in the 51st minute, levelling the score once again.

Centrals was not deterred by the equaliser and continued to press forward.

In the 53rd minute, Sam Shoemark netted his second goal of the half, restoring his team’s lead as the match remained fiercely contested and both teams pushed hard to gain an upper hand.

In the 65th minute, Jack Latham found the net for Blue Lake to level the score at 2-2.

The match was finely balanced and as the clock ticked, the tension started to build.

The Lions displayed great determination and in the 77th minute, Lewis March scored a crucial goal to put his team ahead once again.

Blue Lake tried to find an equaliser in the dying moments of the match, but Centrals’ defence held firm.

When the final whistle blew, Centrals emerged as the winners with a hard-fought victory, defeating Blue Lake 3-2.

Sam Shoemark’s efforts for Gambier Centrals was pivotal in securing the win, along with Lewis March’s crucial late goal.

The Barry Maney group Limestone Coast Premier League clash between Blue Lake and Gambier Centrals provided fans with a thrilling and closely contested encounter.

Centrals’ ability to capitalise on scoring opportunities and their determination to secure the win proved decisive.

Apollo v Millicent United

In an exciting soccer clash, Apollo faced off against Millicent United at Blue Lake Sports Park with the blue and white attempting to remain in touch with top place

The game started with both teams pushing forward in search of an early advantage, with Apollo proving the better side early as it created a number of chances.

Apollo was quick to assert its dominance and found the back of the net in the 22nd minute with a goal by Say Say Wah.

The home side continued to apply pressure on Millicent United’s defence, but the latter remained resolute and prevented further goals from being scored in the first half.

The second half kicked off with a renewed sense of urgency from both teams, Apollo needed to take the three points to tighten its top two spot.

Millicent United came out with a purpose in the second half and responded strongly and equalised in the 57th minute through a Leandro Rodriguez goal.

The game had intensified, however it would not be long before Apollo created another opportunity.

The play would be ended illegally by the visitors as Apollo won a penalty.

Gay Nay Say Ler converted the penalty kick, putting Apollo back ahead 2-1, a mere two minutes after Millicent had equalised.

Apollo then found momentum once again and would capitalise further.

Just three minutes after the sides second goal, Apollo doubled its lead courtesy of a Billy Pearce strike.

Millicent did not give up and the match remained tightly contested as both teams sought to take control.

In the 76th minute, Robert Andersson scored from the penalty spot, bringing Millicent United within striking distance at 3-2.

The pressure was on Apollo to maintain its lead as the next few minutes proved intense.

Both sides created chances but failed to convert and as the clock ticked closer to full-time, Apollo rose to the challenge.

In the 85th minute, Gay Nay Say Ler netted another penalty, extending Apollo’s lead 4-2.

Millicent United fought hard until the very end, but could not find the net before the final whistle sounded.

There were some outstanding individual performances from both teams, with Say Say Wah and Gay Nay Say Ler pivotal in attack for Apollo.

Apollo’s ability to capitalise on scoring opportunities and maintain composure under pressure allowed the side to secure a well-deserved victory and remain in the top two.

Millicent United’s spirited fight and goal-scoring ability made the match highly competitive, however Apollo proved too good.

Naracoorte United v International

In a high-scoring and one-sided affair, Naracoorte United faced off against International in round 10 of the Barry Maney Limestone Coast Premier League.

While it was not quite the 21-0 battering Naracoorte suffered earlier this season against International, it was still a big defeat for the home side.

The match proved to be a dominant display from International, showcasing its attacking prowess and goal-scoring ability.

The game started with both teams showing determination and Naracoorte came out and gave International an early scare.

Andrew Diment opened the scoring for Naracoorte United in the 10th minute, giving his team a glimmer of hope.

However, International would put its heads down and respond, with Matthew Bueti scoring in the 29th minute to level the score.

As the first half progressed, International asserted its dominance.

Samuel Bueti found the net in the 39th minute, putting his team ahead and just before the half-time break, Saw Taw Lar Htoo added another goal, extending International’s lead 3-1.

The second half saw an onslaught of goals from International, destroying any hope Naracoorte had from the early goal.

Matthew Bueti continued his impressive form, scoring in the 47th minute to further increase his team’s advantage.

In the 50th minute, Samuel Bueti added another goal to the tally, followed by two more in the 58th and 61st minutes, completing a hat-trick.

Naracoorte United tried to mount a comeback, but the International defence held firm to deny them any significant scoring opportunities.

Ricky McRobert added another goal for International in the 76th minute, followed by three more goals from Samuel Bueti in the 78th, 87th (penalty), and 92nd minutes.

Andrew Munro managed to score a consolation penalty goal for Naracoorte United in the 84th minute, but it was too little too late to change the outcome of the match.

When the final whistle blew, International emerged as clear winners with a dominating scoreline of 13-2 against Naracoorte United.

The match saw an outstanding performance from International’s Matthew and Samuel Bueti, who were instrumental in their team’s goal-scoring spree.

Naracoorte United’s Andrew Diment and Andrew Munro also showed good individual performances despite the result.

International now sit at the top of the table with an extremely healthy goal difference of 71 and will now face off against Apollo in a match that is shaping up to be a massive one for both sides’ seasons.
