Chamber milestone

The Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 70th anniversary tomorrow (Friday).

More than 100 years ago the “Mount Gambier Traders Association” was formed with representatives from many trades and industries coming together to make important decisions about trade in Mount Gambier.

In April of 1950, the association was rebranded and renamed and the Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce was born.

“We are so proud that 70 years later the chamber has maintained its strong presence and still proudly represents and advocates for the Mount Gambier business community,” Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce president Hayley Neumann said.

“We have a wonderful night planned to celebrate the past, present and future of the Chamber and invite anyone interested to come along and enjoy the night with us.”

Special guest speaker for the night, sponsored by UniSA Mount Gambier, is Sputnik.

Sputnik is an author, story teller, adventurer, business strategist and internationally awarded creative who has worked at some of the world’s biggest advertising agency groups both in Australia and South East Asia.

Tickets are $70 and include a three-course meal, entertainment and a Sputnik’s presentation. Tickets are limited and available from stickytickets.com.au/J46YY

The current board of the Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce consists of President Ms Neumann, Candice Fennel, Helen Strickland, Jane Read, Venny Langland, Rachael Ashman and Gary Jaffer.
