City body builder pushes boundaries

Mount Gambier youngster Bailee DeDonatis has achieved amazing results in her first body building competition.

DeDonatis lifted more than her weight competing in the ICN (I Compete Natural) which is a completely natural bodybuilding federation held across Australia, Singapore and America.

“I competed in the fitness category which requires a lot of work,” she said.

“I won the Under 23 category and I placed second in the First Timer section and Open, which is out of everyone.

“I was really pleased with the results especially for my first competition. I did not care what my result was, it is such an achievement for me to even get up on the stage and compete,” she said.

DeDonatis said she had a lot of people to thank for her achievements.

“I would like to thank my dad David DeDonatis, my coach Sam Schreiber and my partner Marcus Leigh.

“I would also like to mention my co-workers at The Roadhouse on O’Leary Road, my mother and everyone who supported me.”

Dedonatis said it was her father who inspired her to compete.

“My dad has always been a big influence in my life and my fitness career,” she said.

“He has been into the gym for years, he has always loved bodybuilding and wanted to compete himself, so I thought I would do it to make him proud.

“I wanted to gain weight, build my strength up and build muscle so I started going to the gym with my dad and then I just really fell in love with it and I took it seriously.”
