Coastal protection grant secured

Coastal works at Beachport and Southend worth a total of $320,000 can now be undertaken as Wattle Range Council was successful in winning two Coastal Protection Grants.

Environment Minister Dr Susan Close said $240,000 can be used by the council to repair groynes at Beachport, while the remaining $80,000 is allocated to sand replenishment at the southern end of Rivoli Bay at Southend.

In a letter to Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll, she commended the council for its commitment to the management of the precious coastline.

Dr Close visited the area in October and said she was looking forward to seeing the outcomes.
