The internal hall area of the historic Robe Institute has recently had a new coat of paint and the work is now complete.
It is one of Robe’s oldest and most significant public buildings as it dates back to the 1860s.
It is in the care of the Robe District Council and acting chief executive Deb Brokenshire has explained what was required to re-paint it.
“Due to the significance of the building being State Heritage listed, assistance and advice from the Limestone Coast Local Government Association Heritage Advisor was sought and the new colour scheme was submitted for approval through a Development Application,” Ms Brokenshire said.
“It was assessed and approved by the State Heritage Department.
“We believe the updated colour scheme will improve the appeal and suitability of the hall for events, with the aim of increasing the usage of the space.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to the Friends of the Robe Institute for their contribution towards this work.
“We hope the community enjoy the fresh new look of this space.”
