Code Blue extended

The Limestone Coast Code Blue to accommodate rough sleepers during the current cold conditions has been extended in the region until Friday, July 22.

The Code Blue, which began on June 27, was due to end today, however with temperatures in the region forecast to drop below zero in coming days, an extension was announced yesterday.

The Code Blue provides additional funding to allow people experiencing homelessness to be accommodated in motels as cold conditions continue.

ac.care staff have been supporting people to move into accommodation during the Code Blue declarations over recent weeks and ensuring they have food and supplies available.

Anyone needing assistance, including shelter, can call ac.care on 1300 ACCARE (1300 222 273) between 9am and 5pm on weekdays or the 24/7 Homeless Connect SA service outside business hours on 1800 003 308.

The charity also offers food packages, warm drinks and other resources and support through its sites in Mount Gambier at 22-24 Ferrers Street and Millicent at 57-59 George Street.
