Community hall concert

Support is gathering to mount a concert in 2024 to mark the Rendelsham Community Hall centenary.

The structure is owned by Wattle Range Council and lobbying is under way for various maintenance and repair tasks to be completed within the coming two years.

It was the venue for a concert in 1980 to mark the centenary of Rendelsham.

The hall was last packed with 250 concert-goers in 2015 as a fundraiser.

They were treated to 3.5 hours of quality entertainment and a delicious supper.

Among those who had graced the stage in both 1980 and 2015 were Julie Ann and David Thomas and some members of the Dusty Peat Flat Band.

The Murcott family comprising mother Robyn and her sons Daniel, Jeremy, Tommie and Joshua from Glencoe began the 2015 program.

The Murcotts were followed by Alan and Lugh O’Connor, Drew Baker, Henk Groot, Company of Seven performers Chris Hollingsworth and Jan Armit, Trevor Rayson, Scott Leslie, Adam Hamilton, Ian Potter, Eric Chambers and Laurence Davis.

The other bands to perform brackets were Oath and Prime Time while the concert compère was Rebekah Lowe.

The organising committee comprised Robert Lesslie, Graeme (“Rocky”) Smith, Lynette Brooks, Dawn Williams and Ms Lowe.
