Company grows farm holdings

Almost 200 acres of prime grazing land at Mount McIntyre has been bought by one of the state’s largest family-owned companies for an undisclosed price.

The purchaser was Thomas Foods International and this enterprise has purchased a number of other premium South East farming properties in the past decade.

The land in question known as Schultz’s was purchased several decades ago by Albert Whennen (now deceased).

It has been worked by his family ever since.

The property was marketed by a local real estate firm with expressions of interest invited.

Meanwhile, a Millicent farmer has put a price tag of $15,000 per acre on

three parcels of his farming land at Sebastopol.

The 300-acre property is now for sale for $4.5m after it did not sell via the expression of interest method.

According to the selling agents, the soil is premium quality, it has an excellent fertiliser history and the shearing shed and stock yards are in good working order.
