Council helps to fund upgrade

Wattle Range Council is set to provide $6000 towards the refurbishment costs of a State Government building in Millicent.

The allocation appears in council’s draft 2023/24 budget.

The funds have been earmarked for the upgrade to student nurse accommodation at Millicent and District Hospital.

The Millicent and Surrounds Health Support Group began the renovation work several months ago and is accessing voluntary labour, donations and other grants.

When completed by year’s end, the one-time matron’s flat will house five student nurses on placement at Millicent.

Millicent and Surrounds Health Support Group members Ron Wood and Trevor Sinclair addressed the April monthly council meeting about the project and sought financial support.
