Alocal Mayor has been denied the opportunity to represent his council at a major national event next month.
Grant District Mayor Richard Sage will not attend at the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) National General Assembly.
Mayor Sage was denied representing council when elected members unanimously voted against his self-nomination to register his attendance.
He was reminded of his restrictions to represent council at public events.
Councillor Gillian Clayfield said it went against a previous motion moved by council.
“There is a standing motion that council has voted on that you will not be the spokesman for the council,” she said.
“It’s the motion we agreed unanimously on.
“As it stands, I think that you do not go.”
It was decided Cr Megan Dukalskis would attend along with chief executive Darryl Whicker.
Meanwhile, acting chief executive Leith McEvoy said the event would be an opportunity to discuss council business and advocate for the community.
He reported elected members were asked in the January to forward any business for the event to be put to council for endorsement at a February meeting.
However, no correspondence was received.
Meanwhile, council is yet to seek meetings with Federal ministerial departments.
In his motion Mayor Sage suggested airport, forestry and saleyards be topics of focus.
It was decided meetings with ministerial departments will be determined at a future council meeting.
