Councillors show hands

Doctor Kevin McGrath will be stepping down as an elected member of Wattle Range Council when his term of office expires in November.

Cr McGrath is a retired veterinarian and has represented Kintore ward since 2014.

Council subsequently appointed Cr McGrath as its representative on the Millicent Saleyards Advisory Committee, Millicent Health Advisory Council, Lake George Management Committee and the Rendelsham Community Hall Management Committee.

“I have some health issues,” Cr McGrath told The SE Voice.

“I have a fair bit on my plate as I am still farming.”

It is expected that at least nine of the 11 sitting councillors will be seeking re-election.

Nominations close at noon today (Tuesday) with the candidates expected to include Mayor Des Noll and sitting councillors Moira Neagle, John Drew, Dennis Muhovics and Peter Dunnicliff (Corcoran ward), Chris Brodie and Dean Burrow (Riddoch ward), Sharon Cox (Kintore ward) and Dale Price (Sorby Adams ward).

Cr Deb Agnew, of Sorby Adams ward, could not be contacted for comment.

Newcomers to date to confirm their candidacy are Millicent’s David Walshaw (Corcoran ward) and Kalangadoo’s Robert Stewart (Sorby Adams ward).
