Craft group strings together donation

Twisted Threads have presented In Home Hospice Care with a cheque for $1000 following their successful Autumn Threads exhibition.

The exhibition raised funds for the Mount Gambier Library as well as a new charity every year.

The annual event raised more money that it ever has in its five-year history, much to the surprise and enjoyment of Twisted Threads members.

Twisted Threads member and In Home Hospice Care Volunteer Pat Dalton said members had unanimously decided to donate to the selected charity because they have no ongoing funding.

“It is a local group which was important to us and we thought they deserved this donation,” she said.

“Every dollar counts for these guys, and they really need funds as they operate year to year with funding and continually reapply for grants.

“We are all extremely competent craftswomen, and we enjoy what we do so donating to charity is just an added bonus for us.

“The whole idea of the exhibition started as an outlet for our creativity and to show people how far they can go with these crafts.”
