Cray date set for festival

Adate has been earmarked for the second biennial Beachport Crayfish Festival next year.

The March 2 event will showcase the best of the rock lobster industry within the Limestone Coast region.

As before, a range of locally made food and wines will be incorporated within a program filled with art, music and children’s activities.

The venue will again be Centennial Park in Somerville Street and the 12-hour program will commence at 10am.

All arrangements for the 2024 will be in the hands of a committee of locals.

The first such festival was staged a year ago and was enthusiastically embraced by a large gathering of locals and visitors.

Around two decades ago, the Beachport Festival By The Sea was a popular annual drawcard.

It culminated in 2000 with a free outdoors evening concert alongside the Beachport Jetty by 60 members of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
