A spooky spectacular will settle over Mount Gambier this weekend as Halloween sweeps the region.
Creepy characters, like William Badenoch (pictured), will take to the streets for the October 31 event, knocking on doors in the hope of a treat, or perhaps even a trick.
The popularity of Halloween is growing in Australia, with many people decorating their homes for the occasion.
Mount Gambier resident Belinda Howell is no exception, with Halloween decorations galore adorning her house.
“This is my second year decorating my house but last year it was not to this extent,” she said.
“Everyone has really enjoyed it and I am glad it makes people happy.”
The highlight to Ms Howell’s Halloween home is a giant spider perched atop her roof.
“It is made from a beanbag, solar lights for eyes and the legs are stockings with wire inside them,” she said.
“I am not much of a sewer, but I have a creative streak and just wanted to decorate my house this year.
“I saw people in America doing it and I just thought if they can do it I can too.”
This year the ‘Trick or Treat + Halloween Homes 2021 Mount Gambier’ Facebook group has taken a modern twist with a map of participating houses being created on google maps for the first time.
“I am doing an interactive map/list for easy trick or treating,” admin Jes Smith said.
“This is the first annual maps list, but I will be doing it every year from this point onwards.
“I am accepting trick or treaters this year, so I am excited to see all the people who used my map.”

Meanwhile, the Halloween horror will continue as Mount Gambier gets a taste of the undead when the 13th Annual Zombie Walk rises from the dead on Saturday night.
The annual event has raised money for numerous charities over the years, donating funds to Guide Dogs Australia, the Sunset Community Kitchen, the Animal Welfare League, Friends of Native Wildlife, Four Reasons Why and the South East Junction.
The fundraising event will start at Vansittart Park at 6pm.
