Permission has been sought to demolish one of Robe’s landmark properties.
An application has been lodged by a Mount Gambier businessman to knock down the dwelling which changed hands a year ago for $2m.
The Mundy Terrace property had been on the market for only two months.
Sitting on the equivalent of a quarter acre, the house has commanding views over Guichen Bay.
It was erected in the 1940s and has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Public comment will be invited on the demolition proposal but this process has yet to commence.
Meanwhile, in other “high end” Robe real estate news, an unrelated application has been submitted to build a three-storied house on vacant land near the one-time vice-regal residence Karatta House.
This two-storied mansion is located between Lake Butler and the sea and dates back to 1860.
