Disc golfers get final round in ahead of tournament

Sunday saw clear skies and ideal conditions for the Mount Gambier Disc Golf’s October league day.

A total of 21 players took to the course and were rewarded for their efforts with some tough competition.

The junior competition was won by Jessica Holman with a scratch score on 22 over par, while Lincoln Holman claimed the handicap victory

In a welcome return to form, Mick Wilson shot an impressive six under to win the men’s amateur division.

Ben Tremelling shot one over to finish second, while a tight contest for third was be shared by Damien Holman, Justin Mansell and Steven Fox.

The ladies’ division was claimed by Amy Weyers who shot nine over, while second place was claimed by Tarryn Pearce who shot 11 over par – one stroke better than her September league day.

Michelle Schulz finished third.

The open advanced competition was a tight contest, with the five participants finishing within five strokes of each other.

In the end the final hole decided the outcome as Curtis King secured a birdie on Hole 1 to claim the victory over Mat Weyers who squandered his opportunity to win on the previous hole.

Aaron Price also continued his red-hot form with a nice two under par.

Players will now take a break and make final preparations for The Eruption 2022 competition on October 28.
