Double Penola fatality

Two people died in a fatal three-car crash at Penola on Sunday afternoon.

Just after 5.15pm on March 31, police and emergency services were called to the Riddoch Highway and Three Mile Lane after reports of a crash between a Ford sedan, a Ford ute and a Tesla.

Sadly, the two occupants of the Ford sedan, the 62-year-old male driver and his 54-year-old female passenger, both from Suttontown, died at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the Ford ute, a 51-year-old Penola man, was taken to hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the Tesla, a 42-year-old woman from Victoria, and her 69-year-old female passenger, also from Victoria, were both taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The two other occupants in the vehicle were not injured.

Riddoch Highway was closed for several hours while Major Crash Investigators examined the scene.

The couple’s death is the 22nd and the 23rd lives lost on SA roads this year.
