Drivers detected for traffic offences

Limestone Coast Police have been kept busy in recent days, stopping drivers for a raft of traffic offences.


At 10.10pm on June 5 a 44-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police after he was seen driving on Commercial Street West without effective lighting on his vehicle.


The driver recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.062 and tested positive to methamphetamine.


He was issued a fine for drink driving and driving without lights and reported for drug driving, as well as receiving a three month instant loss of licence.


At 1am on June 6 a 32-year-old Victorian man was located by police in Cockburn Street, Mount Gambier after the vehicle he was driving collided with a parked vehicle on Commercial Street East and a fence on Jubilee Highway East. The driver recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.129 and was arrested.


He was issued with a six month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded by police for 28 days.


The man also received a fine for possessing cannabis.


About 9.30am on June 6 a 23-year-old Millicent man was stopped by police while driving on Williams Road, Millicent. The man tested positive to methamphetamine and received a fine.


He was also issued with a three month instant loss of licence.


At 4.30pm on June 7 a 41-year-old Bordertown woman was stopped by police while driving on North Terrace, Bordertown.


The woman tested positive to cannabis and received a fine and issued with a three month instant loss of licence.


About 10.50pm on June 7 a 44-year-old Naracoorte man was stopped by police while driving on Adelaide Avenue, Naracoorte.


The man tested positive to cannabis and methamphetamine and will be fined and issued with a three month instant loss of licence.


At 8.50am on June 8 a 35-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police while driving on Phillip Street, Mount Gambier.


Police checks showed the man was unlicensed and the vehicle he was driving was unregistered.


The man was also breaching his bail by driving and was reported for the offences of drive unlicenced and breach of bail and will appear in court at a later date.


About 9.45am on June 8 a 52-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police after he was seen driving on Penola Road and Jardine Street.


Police checks showed the man was disqualified from driving.


He was reported driving disqualified and will appear in court at a later date.


At 5.40pm on June 9 a 43-year-old Mount Gambier woman was stopped by police while driving on Jubilee Highway East.


The woman recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.177 and was reported for drink driving.


She was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and will appear in court at a later date.


On June 11a 28-year-old Mount Gambier woman was stopped by police while driving on Wireless Road East.


Police checks showed her licence was suspended as a result of being issued with a three month instant loss of licence from a previous traffic offence. She was reported for driving suspended and will attend court at a later date.


At 11.45am on June 11 a 32-year-old Naracoorte woman was stopped by police while driving on Deviation Road, Naracoorte.


The woman, who had a young child in the vehicle at the time, tested positive to cannabis and will be reported for drug driving to appear in court at a later date


About 5.15pm on June 11 a 22-year-old Mount Gambier woman was stopped by police while riding an electric scooter on Penola Road. The woman tested positive to methamphetamine and cannabis and will be fined for drug driving.


At 8.40pm on June 11 a 42-year-old Millicent woman was stopped by police while driving on the Southern Ports Highway at Rendelsham. 


The woman recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.065 and received a fine for drink driving.


Meanwhile, a Victorian man was arrested in a stolen luxury car at Bordertown on Friday.


Just before 2pm on Thursday, State Operations Support Branch patrols spotted a stolen Mercedes parked on Woolshed Road at Bordertown.


The car had been stolen from a Victorian business on June 9.


The driver was allegedly found in possession of jewellery and further investigation revealed he was wanted in a number of high-value jewellery thefts from stores across Adelaide in the last month.


The 30-year-old-man from Victoria was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving disqualified, making off without payment, theft of jewellery and unlawful possession.


He was refused police bail to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court.


The stolen car was seized by police and will be returned to its rightful owner in the coming days.
