Every behind matters in fight against bowel cancer

In football a behind can be the difference between a thrilling win and a devastating loss; in the fight against bowel cancer the consequences are even graver.

Bowel cancer prevention charity Jodi Lee Foundation is bringing football legend Gavin Wanganeen to Mount Gambier for the Behinds Matter campaign to raise awareness of Australia’s second biggest cancer killer.

Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related death in Australia and is the leading cancer killer in people aged 25-34.

However, if detected early, up to 99% of bowel cancers can be successfully treated or even prevented.

Jodi Lee Foundation has partnered with RAA, Wellbeing SA, Star Pharmacy, Nangwarry Football Club and Pangula Mannamurna Aboriginal Corporation to connect with community in the Mount Gambier region on March 29 and 30 through a number of events with Gavin Wanganeen.

Come and meet the footy legend and hear him speak on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how you can prevent bowel cancer.

Photo and signing opportunities will be available as well.

The Jodi Lee Foundation was established in honour of Jodi Lee, who lost her battle with bowel cancer at age 41.

The foundation’s mission is to empower people to take active steps to prevent bowel cancer and live healthy lives.

Each year the Jodi Lee Foundation reach millions of Australians through their national initiatives including the Workplace Program; campaigns like Trust Your Gut, major fundraising events such as The JLF Trek and a powerful social media voice to raise awareness about bowel cancer.
