Fake $50 note warning

Police are issuing a warning to local businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit notes over the holiday season.

On Saturday, December 30, a supermarket in Penola discovered a counterfeit $50 note while counting their cash at the end of the day.

The note is excellent quality but stands out as being slightly different when viewed with other $50 notes.

On close inspection of the note the value ($50) wasn’t in the clear window, the coat of arms was not present on the note and the green and red seven-pointed star did not line up when held up to the light.
