Festive ‘wrap-up’

Festive ‘wrap-up’

DJ Interiors Mount Gambier raised a grand total of $726 for the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal through its annual gift-wrapping service.

The staff wrapped presents of all shapes and sizes and store owner Christine Try said staff would have wrapped approximately 200 to 300 presents, if not more.

“We were really pleased and we are very thankful to all our customers who were able to donate,” Ms Try said.

“We know not everyone can afford it but anything that was given was gratefully received.

“Normally it is a $1 or a $2 donation but some people will donate more than that.

“One of the reasons we picked the Mayor’s Appeal for Christmas fundraising is because of the work they do.

“Being able to give them money so that people who need assistance over the Christmas period, whether that is with food hampers of gifts or toys, it means that we know the money is going straight back into local communities and local families and making sure their Christmas is special.”

Ms Try said DJ Interiors staff enjoyed wrapping the presents and the service gave them the opportunity to interact further with their customers.

Staff wrapped the presents with beautiful blue-themed Christmas wrapping paper this year which Ms Try said was a hit with customers.

“Blue can be a bit of a different colour scheme, people are used to the reds and the greens and the golds but we hope they like what we chose,” she said.

“The feedback we got was really positive and people got the chance to try something different this year.”

Ms Try said the staff enjoyed a very exciting and busy Christmas in store and said it had been a great Christmas season.

“The town is packed full of tourists which means we get new people experiencing the store and everyone is nice and relaxed because there are a lot of people enjoying their holiday,” she said.

“You forget how busy it gets because we have not had tourists for many years and now having them back is wonderful.

“Thank you again to the community for supporting us and assisting with our fundraising, whether they purchased gifts through our sales and brought them from other places for us to wrap.

“It is always a privilege to be trusted to wrap up people’s presents and we just really enjoy it so we look forward to doing it again next Christmas.”
