Forest images receive air time

Aselection of images from OneFortyOne’s annual forest photography competition are now on display at the Mount Gambier Airport in the gallery space tucked behind the boarding gates.

OneFortyOne Corporate Affairs Manager Charlene Riley said this would be the last showing of the 2023 photo competition entries.

“The photo exhibition spent a few weeks at the Riddoch Art Gallery in town,” Ms Riley said.

“We’re very pleased Grant District Council has also supported hosting the exhibition, allowing us to use gallery space at the airport.

“We have displayed the student work in a lovely contemplative spot behind the boarding area.”

Each print is accompanied by a QR code which takes viewers to a story about what the student photographer loves about the forest.

“Every year, the student stories are the best part of the photo competition,” Ms Riley said.

“The stories are so involved and creative and by sharing the stories, we hope people feel more connected to our local forests.

“Whether you’re visiting the region for the first time like a grandparent visiting their new grandkids and delivering gifts from Santa, or you’re a hot shot lawyer from the big city returning to her quiet hometown to visit her family, and meet the country boy love of her life, for the holidays.”

The exhibition will be showing until tomorrow, after which the students and their families involved are invited to pick up their prints from the OneFortyOne office on Jubilee Highway.
