The third round of Lower South East Bowls Association pennants was played on the weekend, with the weather ranging from hot on Friday to overcast and windy with a few showers on Saturday.

Penola’s Division 1 Ladies played at home to Millicent Blue and won 51 shots to 34.

The team skippered by Kaye Batt won by 19 shots and the team skippered by Gail Hetherington lost by two.

The Division 2 Ladies played at Millicent and won 57 shots to 29.

The team skippered by Christine Skeer won by 30 shots while the team skippered by Kathy Brooks lost by two.

The Division 2 Open pennants were played at home in less than favourable conditions against Naracoorte and won 81 shots to 61 shots with all rinks winning.

The rink skippered by Roger Gibbs won by four, Peter Thompson’s rink won by five and Scott Degenhardt’s rink won by 11.

Division 3 North played away at Naracoorte RSL and lost by 20, 76-56.

The rink skippered by Kathy Brooks drew 19 shots all, while the other two rinks lost.

Division 3 South played at home against Millicent Blue and lost by 11 shots, 63-74.

The men’s 100-up was held earlier in the month and featured some very competitive bowling.

At the end of the day the winner was Ian Hetherington, with Ken Batt runner up.

Next week Penola’s Division 2 team will play away at Port MacDonnell, the Division 3 North team will play at home against Millicent and the Division 3 North team will play away at Beachport.

The Majella Mixed Triples will be held on Sunday, November 5 commencing at 1pm.

The Night Bowls will start on Wednesday, November 15 at 6.30pm.

All prospective night bowlers are welcome.

Club bowls are available for anyone who does not have any bowls of their own.
