Freight service juggles issues

Alocal distribution company has been feeling the disrupting effects of COVID-19.

A1 Distribution manager Neil Boase said his Mount Gambier based business had definitely been impacted by the pandemic.

The business provides a daily inter-town freight service throughout the South East of South Australia and south western Victoria.

Mr Boase said many areas of his business had been impacted, including demands, delivery timeframes and driver availability.

Not being able to meet service windows and timeframes was an issue Mr Boase has had to try and overcome.

He said most industries and businesses throughout the Limestone Coast required the services of his company.

In an effort to avoid COVID-related absenteeism among transport workers, Mr Boase said sanitising and hygiene measures required by the freight industry were followed extensively.

“Our sanitising and hygiene measures are pretty much the same as all business; wearing masks, using wipes and hand sanitiser,” he said.
