Fresh faces hit courts

Kingston d Lucindale Roos 42-36

Alovely sunny morning in Kingston with not too much wind made for ideal conditions for junior Southern Ports Tennis Association action.

It was terrific to welcome some new faces to both teams.

Frankie Wilks played her first game for Kingston and Amelia Clarke played her second game for the Roos.

Both girls had a terrific hit, with Amelia doing some great serves.

The doubles were very close with 3/4 and 5/6 both going to tie breaks and Kingston were fortunate to get both 7-5.

Well done to Jacob, Katie and Sam for winning with doubles and singles for Kingston.

Charles Bruce, George Legoe and Catherine Bucket all had great wins for their singles also.

Naracoorte Red d Naracoorte Yellow 47-27

It was a fantastic morning of tennis with Naracoorte Red securing an overall win against Naracoorte Yellow, 47-27.

A consistent Jimmy Orton easily won both his matches.

Naracoorte Red’s Alice Redding had a strong game against Naracoorte Yellow’s Jack Orton, 6-0.

Naracoorte Red’s Eva Tierney and Sidney Hawker were a convincing doubles pairing against Naracoorte Yellow’s Louis Orton and Fliss Orton, 6-0.

The best was left until last, with the closest contested match of the morning between Red’s Georgie Midwinter and Yellow’s Thomas Malone, with Georgie proving too strong in the end, 7-5.

Millicent/Beachport d Lucindale Koalas 52-24

It was a fantastic day out for both teams with good rallies and strong serves.

Millicent/Beachport were too strong on the day only giving away one set to the Koalas.

While winning is great the sportsmanship and development of each player is more important and all players were supported to improve knowledge in tactics and game play.

Cody put up a great fight against Sam and the tie breaker between Rebecca and Rylan and Gemma and Harry was an impressive game with some drive volleys being the highlight from the baseline.
