Fringe gains mainstream recognition

Mount Gambier’s much loved Fringe Festival has been shortlisted for a statewide award.

Fringe Mount Gambier – 2023 has been shortlisted for the Best Regional Event in SA award as part of the Ruby Awards.

The Ruby Awards honour the outstanding work of South Australia’s arts and culture sector.

Named after late arts patron, Dame Ruby Litchfield, the annual awards recognise artistic excellence, creative achievement, innovation, community involvement and inspirational leadership.

Fringe Mount Gambier Artistic Director Louise Adams said she was humbled the event had been shortlisted.

“We are so thrilled and honoured to have been shortlisted, but thanks must go to our wonderful artists and venues,” she said.

“We have had so much support from our local community, and this nomination is also a credit to our volunteers, the 2023 Fringe Committee and contributing members of years past.

“Thanks must also go to our major partners, funding bodies and sponsors in 2023, including City of Mount Gambier, Government of South Australia, South Australia Tourism Commission, Stand Like Stone and our major sponsor partners Australian Gas Networks and Baxter Hire.”

The Ruby Awards 2023 will be announced at an invitation-only gala event in Adelaide tomorrow evening.

Planning is well under way for Fringe Mount Gambier – 2024, which will run from March 22 to April 7.
