Garage sale keeps public hall covered

Agarage sale took place at the Allendale East Public Hall recently, coinciding with the official opening of its new storage shed.

There was a raffle drawn in which the winner received a $300 car service kindly donated by Phil Maywald and the runner up won a winter hamper.

There was a steady stream of people through the hall over both days of the sale with around $2500 raised which will cover the insurance for the Allendale East Public Hall.

Allendale East Public Hall committee member Richard Ferguson said it was well received with a surprising amount of stock cleared.

“Overall it was a good all-around effort,” he said.

“Our plan in the future is to sort of have a barbecue and a small garage sale through the year when we have enough gear to present.

“I think all the community was pleased with the end result which is the financial part and look forward to doing another one.”

The storage shed was funded by a grant from OneFortyOne and supported by the Grant District Council with representatives present from both companies at the official opening.

Mr Ferguson said he would like to thank the support from the Allendale East Public Hall committee members, volunteers, community members and raffle donors.
