Golfers brave conditions

A 61-player field braved the elements on an extremely windy day at the Naracoorte Golf Club in the latest round of SE Veterans golf.

The hard and slick greens resulted in low scores, but this did not stop Milan Hodak from securing first division honours.

Kingston’s Hodak scored 36 points to finish four ahead of Mount Gambier residents Steve Von Duve and Barry Brook.

Second division went to Rodger Henschke of Naracoorte with 35 points, while Allan Chalk of Attamurra won a count-back over Naracoorte’s Otto Modra for the runner-up position on 33 points.

Rob Cece, Rob Ellis, Brian Pennell and Trevor Williams struck nearest the pin awards.

The Ross Orchard prize went to Wayne Dunford and Mark Teakle, while Grant Stephenson snaffled the scotch award.

The next outing is at Beachport on Monday, October 12 followed by Penola a fortnight later.
